Last night, right before I drifted off to sleep, a Facebook friend request popped up. It was an old friend from abroad\u2014someone I\u2019d completely lost touch with for over 30+ years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Seeing that name\u2014at once so familiar yet so distant\u2014sent me into a whirlwind of shock and joy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Shocked:<\/strong> Because… how is this even possible? It felt like trying to find a needle in a haystack in the middle of a vast ocean.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Overjoyed:<\/strong> Because, against all odds, the ocean actually gave up the needle!<\/p>\n\n\n\n I did a quick “FBI scroll” through the photos on my phone to make sure it was really him. And yup, there he was\u2014that same old rascal! The guy I used to call my “Seven Minutes of Life.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n I messaged him immediately: “Is that you? It\u2019s me! Do you remember…?” I followed up with a barrage of greetings and a trip down memory lane, reminding him of the crazy things we shared three decades plus ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n It didn’t take long for him to hit me back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n He was just as hyped as I was.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Excited:<\/strong> Because he\u2019d actually been trying to track me down through various channels for years. He finally did it!<\/p>\n\n\n\n Expectant:<\/strong> Because he\u2019s planning a trip here next year, which means a real-life reunion is finally on the books.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In just a few messages, he gave me the “SparkNotes version” of his life\u2014his family, his work, and his future plans\u2014along with a few photos. Not to be outdone, I gave him a quick rundown of my life and sent over some family photos of my own.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I\u2019ve been on cloud nine all day today. Getting back in touch with a long-lost friend feels amazing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I\u2019m truly looking forward to our reunion.
